Survey Manager - North

Job Introduction

Here at Lucion Surveys, we have a new opportunity for a Survey Manager to come and support our Surveying and Geospatial team in the North of England. This is a field based role where you will be required to travel between our offices; therefore can be based from either our Gateshead, Leeds or Preston Brook office. We are offering a basic salary of between £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience plus many other benefits! 

Role Responsibility

The Survey Manager's main responsibility is to drive the performance of the Northeast Office, ensuring plans are in place that deliver the budget for the business, ensure the continued growth of the business and improve year on year operational efficiency. Assisting the Business Unit director with the daily operations of the regional office(s) whilst helping to accelerate revenue growth and profitability.

Serving as the primary contact for clients and prospects, the manager will meet with customers and prospects, create value-add quotations, arrange site access, and deliver project outcomes. The manager must possess strong commercial acumen, professional communication skills and strive to build their personal profile within the industry and online.

They will represent the company professionally, ensuring the promotion of Lucion Group working practices and values. Whilst this hybrid role will be primarily based in the office, the manager is expected to out in the field meeting customers and prospects to create opportunity, manage operational projects, travel to other office locations, and attend site and customer meetings along with management meetings as necessary. 

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: 

  • Respond to project inquiries, providing value-added quotations to clients, and following up on quotes to close the process.
  • Identify prospect clients to target and convert to customers to help onboard net new customers.
  • Meet with existing customers to win new and additional work for group services, maintaining customer relationships to create a meaningful collaboration.
  • Identify and act on all opportunities to improve workload delivery, reduce cost of sale and maximise Gross Profit (GP). 
  • Managing operational resources, including the allocation of equipment, staff, and vehicles.
  • Overall accountability for the scheduling of work and optimisation of resource.
  • Producing site-specific RAMS as needed. 
  • Use of NexGen, our in-house system, that includes job set-up, job management, financial hygiene, resource management and workload delivery. 
  • Grow and develop a profitable portfolio of customers across the Northern Region.
  • Contently interview prospective talent including trainee and junior surveyor candidates.
  • Consistently promote the business culture directly within the area and social channels, inspiring the people around you whilst building a high performing team to accelerate growth.
  •  Effectively welcome and onboard new team members. 
  • Assisting with staff disciplinary matters and investigations.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required by the Business Unit Director and Surveying Services Director

The Ideal Candidate

  • In house, or external training, to a standard to satisfy any surveying activities having had extensive practical experience of surveying (Topographical, Measured Building or Utilities)
  •  Demonstrable experience of client management, including sales creation and the delivery of consulting services.
  • Experience of leading a team of people and delivering works to a high standard.
  • Experience of recruiting outstanding talent of various roles into teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the cost, effective delivery (Gross Profit) and delivery of company revenue targets which include P&L management.
  • Industry competence qualification(s).
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Competent in using general IT tools and applications along with job specific technical equipment.
  • A Full UK driving licence  - Flexible to travel across the UK.
