Lead QC & Data Technician

Job Introduction

🧩 Lead QC & Data Technician – Rotherham
(a.k.a. The Person Who Makes Sure the Data — and the Details — Are Spot On)

Spreadsheets balanced. Reports consistent. Data exactly where it should be.

Quality control and data management aren’t just administrative tasks — they’re what ensure technical work can be trusted. Behind every accurate asbestos report, register update, and client action plan is someone who understands that precision, organisation, and consistency matter.

At Lucion, our data and quality teams help translate fieldwork and laboratory results into reliable information clients can act on. From reviewing technical documentation to managing internal systems and client portals, your work ensures the right data reaches the right place — clearly, accurately, and on time.

We’re now looking for a Lead QC & Data Technician to join our team, working hybrid between home and our Rotherham office on a part-time basis, working 22.5 hours a week. This role suits someone who enjoys detail, understands asbestos documentation, and takes pride in making complex information organised, accurate, and usable.

🔎 What You’ll Be Doing (And Why It Matters)

This is a detail-driven role where organisation, technical awareness, and quality control are essential.

You’ll:

• Manage client work orders, including plan drawing and progress reporting
• Maintain internal and external software platforms, ensuring NexGen and related systems remain accurate
 • Carry out report quality checks to ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance
 • Review survey reports, certificates of analysis, and scope of works documentation
 • Update and complete client asbestos action plans
 • Review site sketches and produce plan drawings following analysis of samples
 • Upload and manage report data on client portals and asbestos management systems
 • Arrange sample processing and courier collections
 • Maintain internal trackers and document control processes
 • Assist with operational tasks including purchase orders, equipment hire, and hotel bookings
 • Support day-to-day operational coordination within the team

In short: keeping technical data accurate, organised, and ready for clients to rely on.

🌱 About You (Technical, Practical, Solutions-Focused)

You understand that quality data isn’t just about inputting numbers — it’s about checking, questioning, and making sure everything aligns.

You’ll likely:

• Hold BOHS P402 (or equivalent)
 • Have experience completing asbestos action plans
 • Understand asbestos regulations, HSE guidance, and quality control processes
• Be familiar with UKAS standards, audits, and documentation requirements
 • Have strong attention to detail when reviewing technical data
 • Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders
 • Be comfortable working to deadlines while maintaining accuracy

Useful extras (not essential):

• Experience using asbestos management systems or client portals
 • Familiarity with internal document control systems
 • Experience supporting operational teams with scheduling or coordination tasks

You’re organised, methodical, and someone colleagues trust to spot the details others might miss.

🎁 What You’ll Get in Return (Because Good Work Deserves Good Support)

We look after our people so they can focus on delivering quality work. Alongside a supportive, professional environment, you’ll benefit from:

  • Basic Salary of between ÂŁ16,000 - ÂŁ17,000 depending on experience, based on a 22.5-hour working week.
  • Techscheme – vouchers towards commuting or home tech
  • Healthcare Cash Plan – help with everyday healthcare costs
  • Enhanced family leave – because life happens
  • Option to buy extra holiday – time off actually matters
  • Training & development – keep your leadership and technical skills moving forward
  • Flexible working, supported by a business that genuinely cares
