Business Development Manager – Environmental Advisory Services
Location: Manchester, Leeds, London or Bristol (with national travel as required)

Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our Environmental Advisory team. The team offers environmental services covering flood risk, sustainable drainage and design, ecology, environmental health & safety (EHS), environmental due diligence, arboriculture, BNG and sustainability
We're looking for a driven, commercially focussed individual to support the business unit director and help the business to sell to new clients in our established services.
How You’ll Contribute
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a clear business development plan in collaboration with the Business Unit Director.
- Market Growth: Identify and win new business opportunities within key sectors such as real estate, infrastructure, renewables, and financial services.
- Lead Management: Manage and grow your pipeline of leads from marketing, referrals, events, and direct outreach.
- Consultative Sales: Use data-driven insights and methodologies (e.g. MEDDICC, BANT) to qualify and prioritise opportunities.
- Forecasting: Maintain robust and accurate forecasts through the CRM, keeping all stakeholders aligned.
- Proposal Management: Work with technical experts to craft compelling, accurate proposals tailored to client needs.
- Sales Process Ownership: Own the end-to-end process from prospecting to onboarding, ensuring smooth handovers to delivery teams.
- Cross-Selling: Collaborate across the Lucion group to unlock wider client opportunities and referrals.
- Networking: Attend industry events and represent Lucion with professionalism and enthusiasm, tracking ROI and generating new leads.
- CRM & Reporting: Ensure all activities and insights are captured and reported, using available tools to provide a full view of client interactions.
- Collaboration: Be an ambassador for Lucion’s values—sharing best practice, mentoring colleagues, and supporting team success.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proven experience in business development, ideally within environmental consultancy, ESG, or risk management.
- Solid understanding of the environmental advisory service including some technical background offering due diligence, sustainability reporting, or compliance services.
- Experience selling service-based solutions and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
- Skilled in sales qualification frameworks (BANT, MEDDICC) and methodologies (e.g. SPIN, Challenger).
- Strong commercial awareness with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient with CRM tools and Microsoft 365.
- Willing to travel across the UK.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
