Job Introduction

We have a fantastic opportunity for an excellent and passionate candidate to join our Environmental Transaction Services team as a Service Director and team leader to support and advise our clients on their sustainable development projects.

A range of offices across the UK would be considered for the right candidate, those offices may be: London, Manchester, Leeds, Gateshead, Norwich, Lincoln.

Role Responsibility

This is an exciting opportunity to join our sector leading Environmental Transaction Services (ETS) team which provides commercially focused environmental and sustainability due diligence advice to a diverse range of clients in support the real estate transactions, mergers and acquisition across the UK and Europe.

The role provides an opportunity for you to lead our well-established national environmental due diligence team that is responsible for the management and delivery of a range of fast paced technical projects relating to ground risk, flood risk, environmental compliance, and sustainability.  

We are looking for an experienced environmental consultant with a broad skill set specialising in environmental due diligence and relevant technical specialisms with some knowledge of sustainability preferred.  The successful applicant will be a proficient project manager, will be comfortable talking to clients, building new relationships in the investment sector and will be enthusiastic and excited to lead a team of talented environmental consultants.

The main responsibilities of this role are: 

  • Leadership of a national team of environmental consultants across multiple offices with overall responsibility for pastoral care, training, technical and operational delivery, recruitment with accountability for financial performance.
  • Development of new business relationships, active client account management, day to day client liaison.
  • Strategic growth of the team focusing on an approach that creates market opportunity for the team and other teams within the business within our target sectors to contribute to our 5 year vision.
  • Industry recognised depth of knowledge within the service area and the ability to identify future opportunities within the sector.
  • Technical support of the team delivering environmental due diligence projects and associated technical specialisms including ground risk and environmental compliance with some understanding of sustainability preferred.
  • Financial management of the team including accountability for developing and meeting budgets and financial targets and reporting of key metrics to the Unit Director.
  • Project management and delivery of multiple time-critical due diligence projects simultaneously including multi-site portfolios within the UK and Europe.
  • Production and approval of proposals and technical deliverables with overall responsibility to ensure that client requirements are met to a high technical standard.
  • Management of suppliers  and third-party technical specialists to deliver projects in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Line management of senior team members including the provision of coaching and performance feedback.
  • Embody the behaviours, vision and values of the business and drive these throughout the organisation.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in relevant subject and preferably a secondary degree i.e. MSc, or discipline related qualification.
  • A member of a relevant professional body preferably to chartered status.
  • Proven team leader with the ability to make decisions and drive the company values
  • Proven people management skills with the ability motivate and develop staff at all levels of the team
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Depth of knowledge within the specialisms of ground risk, environmental compliance with a degree of understanding of sustainability.
  • Proven project management skills including multi-site portfolios.
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office.
  • Full UK driving licence.
