Senior Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Cosultant

Job Introduction

️ Senior Geotechnical / Geo-Environmental Consultant

Do boreholes, conceptual site models and soil logs spark joy? Do you enjoy a day that might start on site in steel-toecaps and end fine-tuning a report with a really good cup of coffee?

If so, keep reading.

About Lucion

Lucion is a purpose-led, technology-enabled environmental consultancy. We help clients across construction, infrastructure, energy and beyond to develop responsibly by understanding — and reducing — environmental risk.

Our Geo-Environmental Division specialises in site investigation, land quality assessment and technical advice that turns uncertainty into informed decisions (and fewer surprises later on).

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Geotechnical or Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our Bristol office. This is a hands-on role for someone with around 5 years’ consultancy experience who enjoys variety — fieldwork, reporting, problem-solving and helping projects run smoothly.

You’ll work on a broad mix of contaminated land and ground risk projects, while also playing a key role in supporting and mentoring junior colleagues in a friendly, collaborative team.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two weeks are the same, but you can expect to:

  • Plan and deliver site investigations and environmental monitoring works

  • Lead field-based elements of Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 assessments

  • Prepare and review clear, high-quality factual and interpretive reports

  • Interpret laboratory data and build robust conceptual site models

  • Support project management — budgets, programmes and client communication

  • Liaise with contractors, laboratories and other suppliers

  • Assist with proposals, fee estimates and winning new work

  • Champion high standards of health and safety (always)

  • Help develop junior team members through hands-on learning and support

About You

You’re technically capable, organised and curious. You’re just as comfortable on site as you are writing reports, and you enjoy taking ownership of your work — while still being part of a team.

You’ll likely have:

  • Around 5 years’ experience in geotechnical or geo-environmental consultancy

  • Experience delivering contaminated land and ground risk projects

  • Strong reporting and data interpretation skills

  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset

  • An interest in mentoring and supporting others

Why Join Lucion?

Because you’ll be trusted with responsibility, supported by experienced colleagues, and given room to grow — all while doing work that genuinely helps developments happen responsibly.

Also: Bristol’s a great place to be, and we think ground investigations should be interesting, not boring.
