Job Introduction
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Ecology Consultant to join our successful and growing Ecology team. Our Ecology team is at the forefront of delivering innovative and practical solutions to support clients in achieving compliance with ecological regulations. From Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) consultancy to protected species surveys and ecological licensing, we play a vital role in balancing development needs with environmental conservation.
Role Responsibility
- Plan and manage ecological surveys and mitigation strategies from start to finish.
- Conduct Phase 1/UK Habs habitat surveys and assess habitats for notable or protected species.
- Perform Phase 2 surveys for legally protected species.
- Deliver high-quality ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Ecological Impact Assessments
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, statutory consultees, and the public.
- Maintain and build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate
• A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of professional experience in ecological consulting.
• Strong field skills across a range of habitats and protected species.
• In-depth knowledge of ecological legislation and planning policy.
• Proficiency in writing concise, technical reports in line with CIEEM guidelines.
• Experience with BNG and BREEAM.
• Commercial awareness and client management experience.
• Ideally: Bat and/or GCN Natural England licences (Level 1 or above preferred).
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Membership of CIEEM
