Permitting and Compliance - Principal / Associate Consultant

Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Environmental Permitting and Compliance team which provides commercially focused advice to a diverse range of clients in support of permit applications, compliance audits and management plans across the UK and Europe. 

The role provides an opportunity for you to lead our well-established team that is responsible for the management and delivery of a range of interesting technical projects across our key sectors.  

We are looking for an experienced environmental consultant with a broad skill set specialising in environmental permitting and compliance.  The successful applicant will be a proficient project manager, will be comfortable talking to clients and building new relationships in multiple sectors and will be enthusiastic and excited to lead a team of talented environmental consultants.

Role Responsibility

How You’ll Contribute

  • Leadership of a specialist team of environmental consultants across multiple offices with responsibility for pastoral care, training, technical and operational delivery, recruitment and financial performance with support from the Service Lead.
  • Technical support of the team in the subject areas of environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Project management and delivery of multiple projects simultaneously within the UK and Europe.
  • Financial management of the team including accountability for meeting budgets and reporting key metrics  to the Service Lead.
  • Client account management, business development, client liaison and supporting junior members of the team with client communications.
  • Production and approval of proposals and technical deliverables to ensure that client requirements are met to a high technical standard.
  • Technical interpretation of information and delivering commercially-sound advice to clients in order for them to meet their investment objectives. 
  • Management of  suppliers and third party technical specialists to deliver projects in an efficient and cost-effective manner. 
  • Line management of senior team members including the provision of coaching and performance feedback.
  • Demonstrate the behaviours, vision and values of the business and drive these throughout the team and beyond.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in relevant subject and preferably a secondary degree ie MSc, or discipline related qualification.
  • A member of a relevant professional body preferably to chartered status.
  • Depth of knowledge within the specialisms of environmental permitting and compliance.
  • Proven project management and people leadership skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office 
  • Full UK driving licence (preferable).
