Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join our sector leading Environmental Transaction Services (ETS) team which provides commercially focused environmental and sustainability due diligence advice to a diverse range of clients in support the real estate transactions, mergers and acquisition across the UK and Europe. 

The role provides an opportunity for you to become an integral part one of our well-established regional environmental due diligence teams that are responsible for the management and technical delivery of a range of fast paced projects relating to geo-environmental ground risk, flood risk, environmental compliance and sustainability.  We operate across the UK from a number of office locations including Manchester, Leeds, London, Norwich and Lincoln. 

We are looking for an experienced environmental consultant with a broad skill set specialising in geo-environmental ground risk and environmental compliance.  The successful applicant will be a proficient technical report writer, will have project management experience, will be comfortable talking to clients, building new relationships in the investment sector and will be enthusiastic and excited to form an integral part of a team of talented environmental consultants.

Role Responsibility

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic team player with good written and aural communication skills. They will be responsible for assessing environmental data and delivering contaminated land and environmental compliance due diligence assessments across the UK and internationally. Project management, client care and line management skills are preferred and will be developed as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical interpretation of data and delivery of commercially-sound technical advice to clients.
  • Technical delivery of time-critical projects including data assessment, report writing, technical reviewing of multiple assets across the UK and Europe. 
  • Project management of multiple single-site projects and multi-site portfolios across the UK and Europe including management of resources, project finances and ensuring cost effective and timely delivery.
  • Client account management including development of new and existing business relationships, day to day client liaison and client communication.
  • Production of proposals and technical deliverables to ensure that client requirements are met to a high technical standard based on a robust scope of work and fee strategy.
  • Management of suppliers  and third-party technical specialists to deliver projects in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Line management of a small number of junior team members including providing day to day training and mentoring.
  • Third Party supplier management to ensure projects are delivered in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Independent management of workload as well as helping to manage junior team members’ workloads. 
  • Demonstrate the behaviours, vision and values of the business and drive these throughout the team and beyond.

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge and Skills

  • A minimum of 2 years relevant ground risk or environmental due diligence experience.
  • Strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively and intuitively either alone or in a small team.
  • An ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Flexibility as the role may require travel across the UK and overnight stays from time to time.
  • A degree in a relevant subject and preferably a secondary degree i.e. MSc, or discipline related qualification.
  • A member of a relevant professional body preferably to chartered status.
  • Depth of knowledge within the specialisms of ground risk, environmental compliance with a degree of understanding of sustainability preferred. 
  • Project management and people leadership skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferable).
