Job Introduction

We have a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and motivated candidate to join our Environmental Planning Service team as an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Consultant to support and advise our clients on their infrastructure projects.

A range of offices across the UK would be considered for the right candidate but a location in London, Leeds or Manchester would be preferred.

Role Responsibility

The main purpose of the role is to provide high-quality environmental advice to our clients across a variety of sectors including energy, transport, industrial, commercial and residential. You will assist in winning work for the EIA team and deliver EIA products and other environmental deliverables. You will need to be adept at finding environmental solutions to project delivery challenges.

It is expected that the following will form core responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice to our clients and co-professionals in relation to EIA and environmental issues, and identifying project risks and opportunities at the earliest stages;
  • Coordinating EIAs and other multidisciplinary environmental projects with our in-house technical teams (including Noise, Air Quality, Ground, Flood and Ecology) and external network of subconsultants;
  • Assisting colleagues at all levels with Project Management, including producing programmes, budgets and trackers;
  • Project management all stages of the development lifecycle from feasibility through to construction;
  • Assisting the EIA Lead in managing bids and sales for EIA and other multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy projects and fostering existing and new client relationships;
  • Representing the Company externally including client facing meetings and events.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in an EIA or environmental consultancy role;
  • A passionate interest in the environment and/or sustainable development projects;
  • An excellent working knowledge of the UK EIA regulations and guidance;
  • Experience of a range of development types and sizes;
  • The ability to clearly simplify technical data, conclusions and recommendations and disseminate this to clients, colleagues and members of the public;
  • Strong communication, organisational and time management skills;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills, with experience using a number of different software products including GIS, Microsoft Word/ Excel and outlook systems;
  • Reliable, pragmatic and able to work as part of a team and under own initiative
